Sometimes I'll turn on the TV and pop on something he'll get at least a little education from (bless Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Blippi - they're annoying but his knowledge of shapes, colors, letters, and numbers were greatly enhanced thanks to them). I am full time, Monday through Friday 8-4:30 WFH as IT for a hospital system while my husband works an on-site job full time. Babies were all right, but this 1 - 3 age is going to break me. His communication skills have gone up, he's less shy at the park, he's starting to play independently, I enjoy the afternoon with him a lot more, I feel less dependent. So peaceful just to sip coffee and do admin things. We put him in daycare for the days we both work. 2 of them are when he'd be asleep, and 1 would be piecemeal.

Out of 9 hours, I would probably get 3 hours of work in. My husband has a co-worker that worked with his newborn strapped to his chest most the day (when working from home, it was hilarious how many babies and toddlers make cameos during conference calls).

I would have definitely considered it 'doable' though stressful. I miss the days where I could set him down and his roll radius was pretty much confined to a room. In hindsight, I think working from home would have been WAY easier before this kiddo could run. It's great if you want a specific language to be spoken in your home. Then it's a weekly salary while they live with you. You have to pay an upwards of $10k for their visa and travel fees. However, if I have a second child, I'm definitely getting an Au Pair.Р”Р‡or anyone who doesn't know what an Au Pair is, it is an international service that brings nannies from a wide variety of countries to the US. My boss is very understanding about my situation so they don't mind if I'm out with my kid as long I have my computer on me for urgent requests, and I can get the job done in general. In the summer it was great because we could just go in our backyard while I had my work laptop, but now that it's cold in NYC, we are limited to where we can go without having to pay, which always means bringing work with me. Now at his age, he wants more of my attention and craves to go outside. It was super easy when he was just a few months old compared now at almost 2 years old.
